# The Brand Protocol

## Mission

The **Brand Protocol** is the first blockchain network developed specifically to serve the needs of brands and their communities. The Brand Protocol is optimized for low & stable fees, high throughput, and customization including privacy controls.

## Background

The Brand Protocol is the culmination of years of experience serving millions of customers via onchain loyalty programs. It was envisioned by the team at [**Hang**](https://protocol.hang.com/hang-corp) and built by the [**Hang Foundation**](https://protocol.hang.com/hang-foundation)**.** The Protocol is built to address the [**problems**](https://protocol.hang.com/problem) encountered by Hang as the world's first onchain loyalty company.

## Design

The Brand Protocol is designed to be the best place for brands to build on chain. [**Fees**](https://protocol.hang.com/the-protocol/fees) are low, stable, and denominated in USD.

The Protocol includes new [**primitives**](https://protocol.hang.com/the-protocol/primitives) tailored for brand loyalty programs, including tokenized assets, brand credits, and user status. The Protocol also makes it easy for brands to spin up [**marketplaces**](https://protocol.hang.com/the-protocol/primitives/permissioned-marketplace) with custom dynamics and access permission.

The[ **Brand Oracle**](https://protocol.hang.com/the-protocol/brand-oracle) connects directly with brand POS and ecommerce systems to bring real world data on chain. This enables entirely new categories of product, like a novel [**DeFi paradigm**](https://protocol.hang.com/the-protocol/primitives/brand-defi-protocol) that allows brands to borrow against brand credits.
